  • Order your Repeat Prescription Online using SystmOnline please note prescriptions will only show if they are due. You can not request prescriptons more than 7 days in advance.
  • Download the NHS App and order your prescriptions. Please note prescriptions will only show if they are due. You can not request prescriptons more than 7 days in advance.
  • Ordering your medication by using the Prescription Post Box located in Reception at each site

Digital Prescriptions NHS APP

You can now track where your prescription is in the process via the NHS App. You will need to have registered for the NHS App to use this new function.

FAQs

When can I order my Repeat Prescription?

A: Patients are able to order their Repeat Prescription 7 days in advance of their due date. Any prescription requests ordered before the 7 days will be refused by our Prescription Team.

Prescription Requests take 48 hours to be processed at the practice.

You can request your prescription online or using the NHS App

What if I'm going on Holiday?

A: If you have a Holiday coming up and need to order your repeat prescription earlier then 7 days prior to your due date, please make the Prescription Clerk aware this is why you are making an early request. You can do this by adding a written note on to your paper prescription request or by using the additional request box when ordering your prescription online, this will avoid your early request been refused. 

You can even change your nominated pharmacy via the NHS App if you would like to collect your prescription at another pharmacy within the UK 

What is the Electronic Prescribing Service?

A: This practice is set up for the electronic prescription service. This means that for most patients we can send your prescription to your chosen chemist directly saving you having to come down to the surgery.

To get your prescription sent to your chosen pharmacy you will have to ask the Prescription Clerk to sign you up. 

You can also request your repeat medications via the NHS App and track where your prescription is in the process. You will know when it has been received at your nominated pharmacy

Understanding Prescription Journey

At Colton and The Grange Medical Centre, the Prescription Team deal with 100's of medication requests and queries everyday. In order for us to continue to provide you with the best care possible, would would like you to read the information below. This will inform you of what happens when you make a medication request. To enable us to process prescriptions in a timely manner we would ask that you request your repeat medication 7 days before you will run out of your medications. We recognise that sometimes there are problems or delays during the prescription process. We therefore ask, if you have not received you prescription after 72 hours from the initial request, that you contact the Prescription Clerk.

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
